Therefore, the European Union has released many regulations, concerning energy saving issues; particularly, it has enacted Directive 2002/91/EC regarding the energy performance of buildings, and its Recast Directive 2010/31/EU, that promotes the Nearly Zero Energy Building targets, introducing more strict parameters in this aim. Historic additional stories in the cultural heritage of Palermo: critical analysis for the purpose of structural and energy improvement

This paper analyses construction features and performances of additional storeys in historic buildings. The recurring characteristics of these historic accretions are investigated by focusing on the cultural heritage of Palermo, where the practice of extending buildings by raising new levels was widespread both in monumental and vernacular architecture, in public and private constructions. The performance deficiencies of additional storeys are examined in terms of structural safety, thermal comfort and building energy demand. On this basis, the utility of mapping these structures, their morphology and their location in the urban fabric is discussed.
Monitoring the urban environment: developing a mixed (fix and mobile) observatory on the urban quality control

An integrated network of monitoring was developed by the authors from 2002. A wide knowledge of the space and time distribution of the environmental data can be acquired integrating the network of fixed stations (were each environmental parameter is collected) with a number of sensors installed on public transport means (were, at the present time, only some parameters are collected). All citizens of the involved local governments will benefit from an increased awareness of environmental quality and their effects on health. Iekštelpu vides kvalitātes novērtējums pirmsskolas un skolas vecuma bērnu izglītības iestādēs

Bakalaura darba “Iekštelpu vides kvalitātes novērtējums pirmsskolas un skolas vecuma bērnu izglītības iestādēs” ietvaros veikts iekštelpu mikroklimata un piesārņojuma līmeņa novērtējums trīs izglītības iestādēs (PII Rīgas Valdorfskolas bērnudārzs, Rīgas Valdorfskolā un Rīgas 49. vidusskolā) laika posmā no 2016. gada rudens līdz 2017. gada pavasarim. Novērtēšana veikta izmantojot tiešo mērījumu metodi, atsevišķu parametru atbilstība vērtēta salīdzinājumā ar noteiktajiem normatīvajiem lielumiem, savukārt citi, kuriem normatīvu nav, salīdzināti ar Pasaules veselības organizācijas vadlīnijās iekļautajiem lielumiem.
